Tashkent Airport Transfer (TAS)
Tashkent International Airport (IATA: TAS) is Uzbekistan's principal gateway and the hub of Uzbekistan Airways, 15 kilometres south-east of central Tashkent. The airport operates two terminals: Terminal 2 for most international arrivals and the newer Terminal 3 opened in 2021. Arriving passengers clear immigration (most Western nationals visa-free for 30 days; US on e-visa) then proceed to baggage reclaim and the landside taxi rank. Yandex Go operates at TAS with a designated pickup zone. A LocalsRide pre-booking meets you at arrivals with a name sign at a USD fare locked at reservation — useful for travellers transferring directly to the Afrosiyob train or for late-night arrivals when airport taxi negotiation is unpleasant.

Frequently Asked Questions
Which TAS terminal is my flight arriving at?
Terminal 2 at TAS handles most scheduled international flights (Turkish, Emirates, Asiana, Lufthansa, Aeroflot, Flydubai). Terminal 3, the newest, handles Uzbekistan Airways' long-haul fleet and selected partner carriers. Terminal 1 is domestic-only. The three terminals are within walking distance of each other but separated by security-sealed corridors — a passenger arriving at T2 cannot walk to T3 airside without going landside first. Your airline's booking confirmation lists the terminal.
Can I book a direct transfer from TAS to Samarkand or Bukhara?
Yes — direct TAS to Samarkand (310 km, 4–4.5 hours via M39) and TAS to Bukhara (580 km, 7–8 hours via M37) transfers are available as single long-distance private car bookings. The Afrosiyob high-speed train is the more common choice (Tashkent-Samarkand 2h 20, Tashkent-Bukhara 4h) — substantially faster and more comfortable — but rail tickets must be pre-booked and the train departure must align with your flight arrival. For arrivals outside the train schedule or for groups preferring a private car, the direct road transfer is the alternative.
