Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya: bus, shared transfer, taxi or car

DestinationsPublished

Pattaya is a seaside city almost due south of Suvarnabhumi, Bangkok’s main airport. By road it is about 120 km from the terminal to North Pattaya Road, 125 km to Walking Street and 127 km to Jomtien on OpenStreetMap routing. Getting from Suvarnabhumi Airport to Pattaya comes down to four choices: a coach, a shared transfer to your hotel, a metered taxi or a car booked in advance. Which one suits you depends mostly on when you land, how many of you there are and where you are staying.

This guide uses figures from Airports of Thailand (AOT), which runs the airport, and from the booking systems of Roong Reuang Coach (RRC) and Bell Travel Service, checked for every date from 24 October to 6 November 2026. Where the airport’s pages and the operators’ data disagree, we use the operators’ data and say so.

The short answer

Option Time to Pattaya Price Best for
RRC bus to North Pattaya Road About 2 hours, depending on traffic; 06:30, 07:30, every two hours 09:30–17:30, and 18:30, every day in the data 135 THB per seat Hotels in North and Central Pattaya
RRC bus to Jomtien About 2 hours, depending on traffic; hourly 06:00–22:00 every day in the data (RRC says the 22:00 does not stop at Jomtien) 158 THB per seat Jomtien and South Pattaya, later arrivals
Bell shared transfer No journey time published; 08:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30 and 18:00 every day in the data 210 THB per passenger plus 25 THB online service charge Going straight to your hotel on a budget
Public taxi from Level 1 No official journey time; about 120 to 127 km by road Meter plus 50 THB airport surcharge, tolls and any baggage fees Arrivals with nothing booked
Private transfer Door to door, about 120 to 127 km by road Offered by drivers when you book Families, heavy luggage, night arrivals

Finding your way at the airport

According to AOT, arriving passengers collect their bags in the main terminal, where baggage claim is on the 2nd floor. The buses, the shared transfer and the taxis are one floor down, on Level 1:

  • Buses and the shared transfer to Pattaya: Level 1, Gate 8 (inner curb), where RRC and Bell have their counter.
  • Public taxis: Level 1, between Gates 4 and 7.
  • Grab: Level 1, Gate 4 (outer curb).
  • AOT Limousine: counters on Level 2, in the domestic and international arrivals areas.

RRC’s FAQ says immigration and collecting your luggage normally take about 1 hour, which is worth allowing for when you choose a bus.

The RRC bus: two routes to Pattaya

Roong Reuang Coach runs two separate airport routes, and they end in different parts of town. In its booking system the Jomtien service is called bus 389. RRC says both take about 2 hours (depending on traffic conditions).

To North Pattaya Road (135 THB). The bus ends at RRC’s terminal on North Pattaya Road, near Sukhumvit Road, which the operator describes as convenient for central and southern Pattaya. In RRC’s booking data for every date from 24 October to 6 November 2026, weekdays, Saturdays and Sundays alike, buses left at:

  • 06:30, 07:30, 09:30, 11:30, 13:30, 15:30, 17:30 and 18:30.

RRC’s route page lists the same times without the 06:30, so check the booking site if you are counting on the first bus.

To Jomtien (158 THB). This route ends at RRC’s Jomtien Bus Terminal on Jomtien Second Road. In the booking data for the same dates, every day:

  • Every hour from 06:00 to 22:00, 17 buses a day.
  • RRC’s route page says the 22:00 bus drops you at Pattaya Bus Terminal and does not stop at Jomtien. The booking system still sold the 22:00 to Jomtien Bus Station on the dates we checked, without a note, so confirm at the counter.
  • According to RRC’s FAQ, this bus has two drop-off points before Jomtien: one on Sukhumvit Road between North and Central Pattaya, and one opposite Big C South Pattaya.

After 6 November. When we checked on 7 October, both booking systems returned no trips after 6 November, most likely because tickets were not yet on sale; we could not tell whether the timetable changes after that. RRC’s route pages give no end date for their timetables.

Tickets, luggage and missed buses

  • Booking. RRC recommends booking online because tickets are usually sold out at least 1 hour before departure. You can pay online by credit card or QR PromptPay and show the confirmation on your phone. For the 26 October trips we looked at, the booking system added an online service charge of 10 THB per passenger on the North Pattaya Road route and 25 THB on the Jomtien route.
  • At the airport. RRC’s FAQ asks you to be at the counter at least 30 minutes before departure.
  • Children. Children under 2 travel without a ticket; older children need one. AOT’s page for RRC says there are no special fares for children or the elderly.
  • Luggage. One bag of up to 20 kg and one small personal bag travel free. RRC charges for heavier or larger items, for example 50 THB for a bag of 21 to 30 kg and 50 or 100 THB for a baby stroller, depending on size.
  • Changes and refunds. RRC does not refund tickets. AOT’s page for RRC says you can change the date, time or place at least 2 days before travel, for 30 THB per person.
  • If your flight is late. RRC says its counter staff will move you to the next bus with free seats, for a fee of 50 THB per person.

Bell Travel Service: shared transfer to your hotel

Bell Travel Service, whose door-to-door page sits on RRC’s website, sells a shared transfer from the airport to Pattaya hotels. The check-in counter is on Level 1 at Gate 8, and the operator says the service takes you directly to the hotel you specify.

In Bell’s booking data for every date from 24 October to 6 November 2026, including weekends:

  • Departures at 08:30, 10:30, 12:30, 14:30, 16:30 and 18:00.
  • 210 THB per passenger, plus an online service charge of 25 THB per passenger.

The booking form’s default drop-off is Bell’s office on North Pattaya Road; you can choose a hotel instead. We could not load the hotel list, so we can’t tell you whether some hotels cost extra. Bell publishes no journey time.

Public taxis: meter, surcharge and tolls

AOT says public taxis are available 24 hours a day on Level 1, between Gates 4 and 7. You need a queue ticket, which comes from automatic kiosks; waiting time depends on demand. There are two kinds of service: short-distance taxis for areas within about 20 km of the airport, and regular-distance taxis for longer trips.

What the airport says you pay:

  • The meter. It starts at 35 THB in a small taxi or 40 THB in a large one. The per-kilometre rate rises with distance, from 6.5 THB for kilometres 1 to 10 to 10.5 THB per km beyond 80 km. When the taxi moves slower than 6 km/h, a traffic-jam rate of 1.50 THB a minute (small taxi) or 2 THB a minute (large) applies.
  • A 50 THB airport surcharge, paid directly to the driver.
  • Tolls, which the passenger pays.
  • Baggage fees of no more than 20 THB per piece for luggage over 26 inches, or from the third smaller bag, and no more than 100 THB for items such as golf bags or bicycles over 50 inches.

No set fare to Pattaya. None of the airport’s pages we read gives a taxi fare to Pattaya, so we don’t quote one. The taxi page adds a note from the Department of Land Transport: for regular-distance trips, a price can be agreed between passenger and driver, as well as charged by meter. If you go that way, agree the price before you set off.

The airport’s guide also lists EV taxis at Gates 4 and 7 and CABB VIP taxis at Gate 3, with a starting fare of 150 THB plus the meter (CABB adds a 100 THB service charge).

Limousines and other coaches

AOT Limousine has counters on Level 2. Its website lists Pattaya among its “Popular Journeys” with a starting price of 2,700 THB. The airport’s guide says to book at the counter (walk-in only), while the AOT Limousine website says you can book via the website, phone or app.

The airport also lists a Pattaya coach under “Bus (Bor Khor Sor)” at the Public Transportation Center, but gives only approximate figures: service hours of 06:30 to 21:00 and a fare of about 140 to 190 THB, and it asks you to check fares again. These don’t match RRC’s own data, and we found no timetable from that operator, so this guide relies on the RRC and Bell figures above.

If you land at Don Mueang, Bangkok’s other airport: RRC’s booking system lists Suvarnabhumi, Ekkamai and Mo Chit 2 as its Bangkok departure points, and Bell’s showed no trips from Don Mueang to Pattaya on the dates we checked. The free shuttle between the two airports is only for passengers with a connecting flight.

If someone is collecting you

The airport’s transport guide sets out where taxis, Grab, limousines and buses pick up, but it does not describe a meeting point for pre-booked private cars. If a friend or a driver is meeting you, agree on the exact place in advance, for example the arrivals hall on the 2nd floor or a numbered gate.

Choosing by situation

  • One or two people landing between morning and early evening, staying in North or Central Pattaya: the RRC bus to North Pattaya Road.
  • Staying in Jomtien or South Pattaya, or landing later: the RRC Jomtien bus, hourly until 22:00 (RRC says the 22:00 ends at Pattaya Bus Terminal, not Jomtien).
  • Want to be dropped at your hotel at a bus-like price: the Bell shared transfer, if one of its six departures fits.
  • Landing after the last bus, or before 06:00: a taxi from Level 1 or a car booked in advance.
  • A family or group with several cases: each bus seat is paid separately, children over 2 need their own ticket, and each passenger has one free bag of up to 20 kg. Compare that with one vehicle for everyone, door to door.

The private transfer

On LocalsRide you enter the airport, your Pattaya address, the date and time and the number of passengers. Local drivers send offers showing the vehicle and a price, with a star rating from past passengers once the driver has completed rides. You choose one and pay by card online. The price of the accepted offer does not change.

The driver comes for the pickup time you booked, and airport pickups include 60 minutes of free waiting from then. A long delay can use that time up, so if your flight is late, message your driver in the LocalsRide chat. If you ask for a name sign, each offer shows whether the driver will meet you with one; otherwise you agree a pick-up point with the driver. Child seats and a note about your luggage go in your request, so drivers see them before they make an offer, and each offer’s details show the vehicle’s luggage capacity.

A booked car makes most sense when the public options are weakest: arrivals after 22:00 or before 06:00, a group whose bus seats and baggage fees add up, or an address far from the bus terminals and drop-off points.

Checking a transfer for your date

Whether you get offers depends on the drivers available on your date. Enter your landing time and your Pattaya address and see what offers arrive before you count on a car, then compare them with the bus and shared-transfer times above for your day. Driver offers for trips from the airport are on our Bangkok Suvarnabhumi transfers page.
