Welcome to the LocalsRide blog

Company newsPublished

We built LocalsRide so that arriving somewhere new does not have to start with a queue, a language barrier and a meter you cannot read. This blog is where we will write about the part of travel that happens between the terminal and the front door.

What we plan to publish

We have four things in mind, which map to the categories you will see on each post.

  • Transfer tips: practical advice on booking, luggage, child seats, late-night arrivals and the questions people ask us most.
  • Destinations: how to get from the airport into the city, what a fair price looks like, and what to watch out for locally.
  • Business travel: booking for teams, invoices, and keeping a trip predictable when someone else is paying.
  • Company news: changes to the service worth telling you about, like this one.

No fixed schedule. We would rather publish something useful occasionally than something thin every week.

How a LocalsRide booking works

If you have never used us, the model is a little different from a taxi app. Drivers come to you.

  1. Search your route. Pickup, destination, date, time, passengers. It takes under a minute.
  2. Compare offers. Verified local drivers send competing prices. You see each driver’s vehicle, rating, years of experience and real passenger reviews before you choose.
  3. Confirm and travel. Accept an offer and pay online. The price is locked at that moment. If you asked for a name sign, the offer shows whether the driver will meet you with one at arrivals.

The practical effect is that the price you agree is the price you pay. Tolls, taxes and airport fees are included, there is no meter and no surge pricing.

What that covers today

We work with verified local drivers across more than 500 cities in over 80 countries, including more than 500 airports. For flights, drivers wait free for up to 60 minutes from your booked pickup time.

Beyond airports there are three other services worth knowing about: city-to-city transfers for long-distance routes, port and cruise transfers, and train station pickups.

If you want the longer version, how it works walks through the whole process. If you already know where you are going, you can get a price in about a minute.
