Kuala Lumpur Airport Transfer (KUL)
Kuala Lumpur International Airport (IATA: KUL) is Southeast Asia's second-busiest airport, handling 60+ million passengers at KLIA and KLIA2 combined. Two terminals serve different airlines on the same site. Inside the arrivals halls, "budget taxi" counters sell non-metered flat rates that consistently exceed what metered taxis and Grab charge for the same routes — the terminology implies a bargain that doesn't exist. A LocalsRide transfer is pre-booked at a genuine fixed price, with a driver confirmed inside arrivals before you encounter any taxi counter.
Transfer Time and Distance from KUL
KLIA is 57 kilometres south of the city. KLCC and Bukit Bintang are 45–65 minutes via the ELITE highway in normal conditions. Bangsar and Mid Valley are 50–70 minutes. KL Sentral is 45–60 minutes (though KLIA Ekspres covers this in 28 minutes). Putrajaya is 20–25 minutes north. Malacca is 145 kilometres south (90–120 minutes).
KLIA and KLIA2 — Which Terminal?
KLIA main terminal handles Malaysia Airlines, Singapore Airlines, Emirates, Qatar Airways, Cathay Pacific, and most full-service carriers. KLIA2 handles all AirAsia routes. Both are in the same complex but have separate meeting areas. Confirm your terminal when booking — your driver will be at the correct arrival point.
