Getting from Manchester Airport to the city

The airport has its own railway station with direct trains to Manchester Piccadilly in about 20 minutes, continuing to Liverpool, Leeds and beyond, and a Metrolink tram line also runs into the city centre, taking around 55 minutes. Both leave you at a station or tram stop with an onward leg and your luggage. A private transfer is door to door in about 20 to 30 minutes.

Manchester's long-haul network means a large share of arrivals are not staying in Manchester. Liverpool is 56 km away, Leeds 70 and Sheffield 90, all inside 90 minutes by road, and all journeys the rail network handles with a change. Which terminal?

Most international carriers use Terminal 1 and the rest are split across the others, with a boarding pass the only reliable guide.
