Siem Reap Airport Transfer (SAI)

Siem Reap Airport Transfer (SAI)

Siem Reap–Angkor International Airport (IATA: SAI) opened on 16 October 2023 and now handles all commercial flights to Siem Reap. The old Siem Reap International Airport (REP), 7 kilometres from town, closed to commercial flights the day before. SAI is about 50 kilometres east of Siem Reap, linked to the city by a new highway, and serves routes from Bangkok, Singapore, Kuala Lumpur, Hanoi, and Ho Chi Minh City. At that distance a tuk-tuk is not a practical way into town. A LocalsRide driver waits for you when you land, for transfers to Siem Reap town and the Angkor temple complex.

SAI Transfer Times

Old Market (Phsar Chas): about 50 km, 45–60 min. Pub Street and hotel district: about 50 km, 45–60 min. Angkor Wat main entrance: the road runs through Siem Reap town, so allow 15–20 min more than to the Old Market. Angkor Thom, Ta Prohm, and Preah Khan: through town, a little further again.

Good to know

Frequently asked questions

Yes, more than it was at the old airport. SAI is about 50 km from town, a tuk-tuk is not suited to the highway, and app-based cars are less reliably available at the airport than in the city. A pre-booked LocalsRide private car means an air-conditioned vehicle, a price fixed at booking, and a driver waiting when you land.
