Denver Airport Transfer — DEN

Denver Airport Transfer — DEN

Denver International Airport (DEN) handled a record 82.4 million passengers in 2025, which makes it the fourth busiest airport in the United States. It also has the largest airport site in North America, which is why it feels so far from the city: downtown Denver is about 39 km away by road, and the ski resorts one and a half to three hours beyond that.

A LocalsRide transfer has a driver waiting for you when you land, at a price fixed when you book. Each offer shows the languages your driver speaks.

Transfers start from $50, fixed price, confirmed at booking. No meter, no hidden fees, no surge pricing.

Transfer time and distance

  • Gaylord Rockies, Aurora: 13 km, approximately 10 to 20 minutes
  • Downtown Denver and Union Station: 39 km, approximately 25 to 60 minutes
  • Cherry Creek: 39 km, approximately 30 to 65 minutes
  • Denver Tech Center: 42 km, approximately 25 to 55 minutes
  • Boulder: 70 km, approximately 40 to 70 minutes
  • Breckenridge and Keystone: about 165 km, approximately 1 hour 25 minutes to 2 hours 40 minutes
  • Vail: 195 km, approximately 1 hour 50 minutes to 2 hours 50 minutes

Every trip starts on Peña Boulevard, the airport's own 19 km road out to I-70 and E-470. The quick routes to Boulder and Colorado Springs use E-470 and other toll roads, and the tolls are included in your fixed price.

Where your driver meets you

All ground transportation at DEN leaves from Level 5 of the Jeppesen Terminal, from islands outside numbered doors: even numbers on the west side, odd numbers on the east. Airport rules keep pre-booked drivers with their vehicles rather than inside the terminal with a name sign, except for large groups approved in advance.

So the pick-up works a little differently here. Once you have your bags, message your driver in the LocalsRide chat and agree the door; right after you book, you get the driver's name and phone number and the car's details, including the plate.

International arrivals

International flights arrive at the A Gates, and passengers clear US Customs and Border Protection in the main terminal, coming out at the north end of Level 5, the same level as the ground transportation islands. DEN handled 4.8 million international passengers in 2025.

Your driver comes for the pickup time you booked, and the first 60 minutes of waiting from that time are free. On domestic flights, the train from the B and C Gates to the terminal takes under ten minutes.

What does the alternative cost?

DEN taxis charge flat rates with the airport fee included: $72.04 to downtown, $80.04 to the Denver Tech Center and $115.04 to Boulder. Cherry Creek and most other addresses go on the meter, and ride-hailing prices move with demand.

The RTD A Line train reaches Union Station in 37 minutes for $10 and runs every 15 minutes in the daytime, which makes it the cheapest way downtown for one person travelling light. It does not run all night and it stops at stations rather than hotels, while shared shuttles to the ski resorts in Summit County start at about $65 per person each way.

Why book a private transfer from DEN?

  • Fixed all-in price, tolls included, on a long run where a meter adds up
  • One price for the car, not per seat, which suits a ski group sharing the trip
  • 60 minutes of free waiting from your booked pickup time
  • Door to door into the mountains, to your condo or hotel rather than a shuttle stop
  • 24/7 service, including arrivals after the last train

What vehicle should you book?

  • Sedan, up to 4 passengers, for couples and business travellers
  • Minivan, up to 8 passengers, for families and ski groups with bags
  • Minibus, up to 15 passengers, for larger groups heading to the same resort
