Private Airport Transfers in Houston
Houston is a metro area of about 7.9 million people spread over a very large area, with two major airports on opposite sides of town. Which one you land at decides how long your ride is: the airports are about 52 km apart by road, and each is much closer to some districts than the other.
George Bush Intercontinental (IAH), north of the city, handles most international flights, while Hobby (HOU), southeast of downtown, is a busy domestic airport led by Southwest. A private transfer takes you from either one to your door at a price fixed when you book. Each offer shows the languages your driver speaks.
Transfers start from $50, fixed price, confirmed at booking. No meter, no hidden fees, no surge pricing.
Which airport is closer to you?
- Downtown and the George R. Brown Convention Center: 21 km from HOU, 37 km from IAH
- Texas Medical Center and NRG Park: 18 to 20 km from HOU, 42 to 46 km from IAH
- The Galleria and Uptown: 30 km from HOU, 46 km from IAH
- Clear Lake and Space Center Houston: 26 km from HOU, 73 km from IAH
- The Woodlands: 39 km from IAH, 68 km from HOU
- Kingwood: 25 km from IAH, 59 km from HOU
- The Energy Corridor on I-10 west: 49 km from HOU, 55 km from IAH
If you have a choice of flights, compare the ground leg as well as the fare. From Hobby, the Medical Center is within about half an hour outside rush hour, while IAH is the clear choice for The Woodlands and Kingwood.
Changing airports
Some itineraries land at one Houston airport and leave from the other, such as a long-haul flight into IAH and a Southwest connection out of Hobby. The two are about 52 km apart by road, and a taxi between them costs around $76 to $78.
A transfer between the airports runs at a fixed price, and the driver comes for the pickup time you booked. Leave enough time for the drive across the city and for security at the second airport.
Cruises from Galveston
The Port of Galveston, with four cruise terminals, is the start of many Houston trips. It is 68 km from Hobby, approximately 45 to 75 minutes, and 115 km from IAH, 1 hour 5 minutes to 1 hour 40 minutes.
Sailing days put a lot of cars on I-45 at the same time. A fixed price booked ahead holds on those mornings, and one car takes the whole party and its luggage to the terminal.
Busy weeks in Houston
The Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo runs through most of March and drew more than 2.6 million visitors in 2026. The Offshore Technology Conference fills NRG Park every May, and the George R. Brown Convention Center hosts large events through the year.
Hurricane season runs from June to the end of November, and in heavy storms the underpasses are the first roads to flood. Your driver comes for the pickup time you booked; if your flight is delayed, message them in the LocalsRide chat.
Medical trips
The Texas Medical Center calls itself the largest medical complex in the world, with around 10 million patient encounters a year, and many visitors come to Houston for an appointment rather than a holiday. Hobby is the closer airport, 18 km away, and a booked car takes you and anyone travelling with you straight to the hospital entrance.
Onward travel
The Houston to College Station car service covers the 145 km run from IAH to Texas A&M, and the same fixed-price service runs between cities across the United States.
