Private Airport Transfers in Liberia
Liberia is the capital of Costa Rica's Guanacaste province and the gateway to the Pacific north coast's resort beaches. Daniel Oduber Quirós International Airport (LIR) is 12 kilometres west of Liberia city on the Pan-American Highway (Route 1) and a short 20-minute drive into the city. LIR's real function, though, is as a direct-to-beach gateway — most international arrivals continue straight to Papagayo peninsula (25 km, 30–45 min), Playas del Coco (20 km, 30 min), Playa Hermosa (25 km, 35 min), or further south to Flamingo (60 km, 1 hour), Playa Conchal (65 km, 1.25 hours), Tamarindo (75 km, 1 to 1.5 hours), and the Nicoya Peninsula beach towns. A LocalsRide booking delivers directly to the resort entrance at a USD fare fixed at reservation.

Frequently Asked Questions
Is Liberia city worth a stop or should I go straight to the beach?
Liberia city has a small colonial centre and a couple of decent hotels but is primarily a regional capital — most LIR arrivals skip the city and go direct to the coast. If your flight arrives very late and the onward transfer to Nosara or Santa Teresa would arrive past midnight, a night at a Liberia city hotel makes sense before continuing the next morning in daylight. Otherwise, direct-to-resort transfers from LIR are the standard pattern.
Do I need a 4x4 SUV from LIR to Nosara or Santa Teresa?
Yes for Nosara and Santa Teresa — both are accessed via partly unpaved roads in the Nicoya Peninsula and rainy-season (May to November) mud can stop sedans. Paved-road beach destinations close to LIR (Papagayo, Tamarindo, Flamingo, Conchal, Coco, Hermosa) do not need 4x4. Request SUV at booking for any Nicoya Peninsula interior destination or anything south of Guiones beach. During the dry season (December to April), sedans can sometimes reach Nosara via the improved road, but the SUV is safer.
